Our Story
The idea for Tobtos® Chair was born on a camping trip back in 2018. Founders Tom and Susan realized that most camping chairs on the market were bulky, difficult to set up, and uncomfortable. As avid outdoorspeople, they knew there had to be a better way.
So Tom and Susan got to work designing camping chairs that were lightweight, portable, and actually comfortable to sit in for hours. After months of prototyping and testing, they finally created a camping chair they loved.
In 2019, Tobtos® Chair was officially launched with our very first product: The Obsidian Camping Chair. This revolutionary chair weighed only 2 lbs but could support up to 300 lbs. It packed down smaller than a yoga mat and opened effortlessly in seconds. With durable ripstop nylon and an ergonomic frame, the Obsidian Camping Chair set a new standard for portable comfort.
Word of our awesome camping chairs quickly spread through the outdoor community. Before we knew it, Tobtos® was receiving rave reviews from satisfied customers all across the country.

- Draco Sleeping Pad – Thick and cushioned air pad for car camping. Features insulation to prevent heat loss.
- Lyra Sleeping Pad – Ultralight inflatable backpacking pad with an R-value of 2.1 to protect against cold ground.

From early prototypes to finished products, everything is designed and tested right at our headquarters in Nashville, TN. Our hands-on approach guarantees our gear lives up to the Tobtos® standard.
Third Party Validation
We partner with independent labs to test our chairs, cots, and other products well beyond expected use conditions. Items undergo repeated compression, abrasion, and exposure testing to validate durability.
Field Testing
Before launching a new product, we send prototypes out with hard core outdoor enthusiasts across the country and solicit their direct feedback. Good enough for a weekend warrior isn’t good enough for us. Our gear performs even after months of regular use.
